We Did It Before. Will DC Do It Again? “POWERBALL First Millionaire of The Year” Promotion Returns
WASHINGTON, DC – The Powerball First Millionaire of the Year® promotion returns! Through September 30, 2023, DC Lottery players have two ways to enter to become one of five finalists to travel to New York City and have the chance to win $1 MILLION in a special drawing broadcast live on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2024.” The “Powerball First Millionaire of the Year” winner will be announced just after midnight EST in Times Square.
“In 2021, the DC Lottery celebrated local man Carlos Mabry as the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year,” said Director of Marketing Jayre Reaves. “When Carlos was chosen as a finalist and on his way to New York City for the final drawing, he proclaimed that he was ‘Doing it for DC.’ It was an exciting time for him, our players, and the DC Lottery. We’d love to celebrate another winner and do it all over again!”
Two ways to enter the contest:
At your nearby DC Lottery Retailer-- Any Powerball® purchase of $5 or more on a single ticket made at any DC Lottery retailer, will include a 2nd chance prize code. Players will receive one entry for each eligible purchase. Contestants will then enter prize code(s) for the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year contest online at dclottery.com.
Online with DCiLottery-- Any Powerball® purchase of $5 or more on a single ticket made via DCiLottery, will be automatically entered into the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year contest. Players will receive one entry for every eligible purchase.
Players can enter across the platforms. However, players cannot win on multiple platforms.
At the end of the contest period, DC Lottery will conduct a drawing to select five (5) lucky players: three (3) from entries received via dclottery.com; and two (2) from entries received via iLottery. All will receive a Powerball First Millionaire of the Year cash prize of $2,024 courtesy of DC Lottery. These players will be entered into the national drawing for the five semi-finalists who will have the opportunity to win $1 million on New Year’s Day.
