Life is golden for Timothy Ruch, a typical All-American guy who won the grand prize of the D.C. Lottery's $20 District of Columbia Gold Scratcher - $1 million! On July 5, 2011, Ruch attended the Nationals vs. Cubs game, and purchased his ticket as he was leaving the Park. He put the ticket in his pocket, before quickly deciding to scratch it. "I saw the gold bar, then saw where it says, 'reveal a "Gold" symbol, win prize shown automatically.' The prize was one million dollars." Ruch immediately called his wife Emily, who said, "No way." He responded by sending her a picture of the ticket and texting, "Way!" The Ruch's are in the process of buying a home in Prince George's County and said they will use to some of the money to help with the down payment. Ruch has served in the U.S. Air Force for almost nine years, and recently returned from a six-month tour in Iraq. Dubbed the D.C. Lottery's 'Golden Boy,' the agency will present Ruch with a ceremonial check in honor of his win at Nationals Park on July 29, 2011.
