On a Sunday morning in August, Alan Lopatin of Northwest looked at his newspaper and realized that the had won $10,000 with the D.C. Lottery's POWERBALL game. "I called my son and asked him to read the numbers to me," Lopatin laughed. "I took my ticket to different stores and ran it under the Quick Checker at a few places." Finally, he looked online to find out exactly how money he had won. Thrilled to learn that his prize was $10,000 with the August 13, 2011 drawing, Lopatin said he plans to pay bills and have a good meal. He bought his ticket out of the WinStation at Tenley Market, 4326 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W. and selected the Quick Pick option.
