WASHINGTON, D.C.— Darius, an enthusiastic Gen Z player from Maryland, claimed $50,000 and became one of the newest members of DC Lottery’s Winners Circle. The big win came playing DC5 and the winning ticket was purchased in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Southeast, D.C.

While no stranger to playing and winning with DC Lottery, this is Darius’ largest win to date. “My dad introduced me to playing lottery. It’s fun. Especially, when you win,” said Darius. “I told him about my latest win, and he laughed, “You’re doing big boy numbers, now!”

When asked of his plans for his new windfall, Darius replied, “I’m getting a car. Nothing too big or too fancy. And I’m saving the rest!”

Darius claimed his prize from DC Lottery’s headquarters on May 8, 2023.

A few days earlier, Roshawn, a Gen Z player from Washington, D.C., took home a sizable win of her own. This first-time winner claimed the $25,000 prize on May 1, 2023. Sure of her win, but not quite sure what to do with the winnings, Roshawn debated whether to take a vacation or stay-cation. After giving it a thought, she exclaimed, “I can do both!” Roshawn’s winning DC5 ticket was purchased at N & H Company in Northeast, D.C.

“Congratulations to Darius and Roshawn!” said Director of Marketing and Communications, Jayre Reaves. “We’re excited to welcome them both to our ever-growing Winners Circle and look forward to ushering in this next generation of winners.”
