WASHINGTON, D.C. – Phillip H. of Washington, D.C. was distressed when he could not find one of the two tickets he purchased for the August 12 Lucky for Life drawing. Both tickets matched five numbers to score the game’s $25,000 A YEAR FOR LIFE prize. Each win had a cash value of $500,000, and combined, the tickets amounted to a potential windfall of $1,000,000.

“I always get two tickets, and I always pick my own numbers. That’s my winning strategy,” proclaimed the 57-year-old environmental volunteer. “I saw that the first ticket was a winner but couldn’t find the other ticket.”

Phillip claimed his first Lucky for Life win at the DC Lottery’s Prize Center just days after the August 12 drawing and more than a month later, he returned with his second winning ticket in hand.

“After searching through old tickets, I found it and let out a big sigh of relief,” he said.

Phillip purchased his winning ticket at Anacostia Mobil in Southeast D.C. The Lucky for Life two-time winner plans to tackle a list of home improvement projects and purchase a new truck to help with his volunteer efforts.
