WASHINGTON, DC—In the same month as the nation’s 250th birthday, DC Lottery players celebrated more than $8,931,233 in shared prizes. Here are just some of their stories and the games that took them to the winners’ circle.

 

In-Store Wins

In-store players scored more than $6.3 million in prizes throughout July. Among them were proud fathers, aspiring students, and working professionals from across the District.

  • Joshua, a Native Washingtonian and future anthropology student, had a $110,000 DC 5 win with eight winning tickets purchased at Giant Food on Alabama Ave., SE.

  • Anthony landed a DC 5 win worth $50,849, with his winning ticket purchased at Safeway on 14th St., SE. 

  • Reginald, a Renaissance man with a penchant for fixing things, won $25,000 playing DC 5. His winning ticket was purchased at the South Capitol Street Exxon. 

  • Jamal, a proud father of two adult daughters, won playing DC 5. Now $25,000 richer, the doting dad declared, "I've got to look out for my girls." Jamal’s winning ticket was purchased at Gateway Market on New York Ave., NE. 

  • James, a healthcare professional familiar with caring for others, won $25,000 playing DC 5. His winning ticket was purchased at Exotic Wine & Liquors in NE.

Online Wins

During July, online and app wins accounted for more than $2.6 million in prizes. One lucky player, who has yet to claim their prize, is set to pocket $43,393 with the Coins of the Titans progressive jackpot game.

2nd Chance Wins

DC Lottery’s 2nd Chance contests give players more opportunities to win by entering eligible tickets for additional chances at cash, prizes, and exclusive experiences. In July, the Celebrate America scratcher and associated 2nd Chance contest, created to honor the nation’s 250th Anniversary, announced Gabriel as its first $12,500 contest winner.
