WASHINGTON, DC – A District of Columbia resident has claimed a $2,000,000 top prize with the Extreme 500X Fortune scratcher. The winner chose to collect her prize money with a one-time payment of $1,520,000 rather than annuitized payments made over 20 years. The winning ticket was purchased at Franklin Liquor & Market at 2723 7th Street, NE.

Introduced in April of this year, Extreme 500X Fortune is the DC Lottery’s first-ever $50 scratcher. When launched, the game featured an incredible $18 million in total cash prizes and record-setting top prizes of $2,000,000, the largest prize amount for a scratcher game in the history of the DC Lottery.

The winner, who described herself as “adventure ready,” is a graduate of Wilson High School and Howard University. A career civil servant for more than 30 years, she said she enjoys her work and has been researching retirement options. When asked about any adjustments to her plans now that she is a millionaire, the septuagenarian replied, “This changes everything!”

“We love to see our players win life-changing prizes like this, and we could not be happier for our latest big winner,” said DC Lottery Executive Director Randy Burnside. “The Extreme 500X Fortune offers players some of the best odds of winning a $2 million top prize you will see in the lottery industry (1:227,497.50), and we cannot wait to find out who the next DC Lottery millionaire will be.”

There are many cash prizes available with the Extreme 500X Fortune, including a second $2,000,000 top prize and additional prizes ranging from $100 to $50,000. Players also have more chances to win through a Second Chance contest that offers players with non-winning tickets an opportunity at $500,000 in prizes.
