WASHINGTON, DC– A merry band of 25 coworkers who call themselves “This Pool Reserved” is now swimming in cash thanks to a “Lucky” ticket the group received as a free bonus in a recent DC Lottery promotion. Insert name, a representative from the office pool, claimed the 2nd tier $25,000 A Year for Life prize in the Lucky for Life™ game drawn on Thursday, October 25, 2018.

“It was quite a surprise for everyone. We had spreadsheets and ran scenarios of how we should claim the prize. It was exciting!” said Max Sinthorntham, the pool’s representative.

Drawn every Monday and Thursday and played in 25 US states and the District of Columbia, the top prize for Lucky for Life™ is $1,000 A Day for Life. The 2nd prize is $25,000 A Year for Life. The “for life” prizes in the game are payable for the length of the winner’s natural life, with payments guaranteed for a minimum of 20 years. “This Pool Reserved” chose the cash option, a one-time payment of $390,000.

The winning ticket, purchased at the Wawa located at 111 19th Street, NW, was received as a free bonus as part of the recent “Only in DC” high-jackpot promotion. When jackpots soar over the $300 million mark, the DC Lottery rewards players who purchase $10 or more on a single Mega Millions or Powerball ticket with a free $2 Lucky for Life quick pick. The 25 members of “This Pool Reserved” each contributed $10 to buy multiple chances at winning the record-breaking $1.537 billion Mega Millions jackpot on October 23rd. One of the bonus Lucky for Life quick pick tickets the group received for their purchase matched the first five numbers selected in the October 25th drawing. The winning numbers were 12-20-22-27-30. The Lucky Ball was 16. Wawa will receive a $1,000 commission bonus for selling the winning ticket.

This is the third 2nd top prize winner awarded by the DC Lottery since launching the game in 2015. The first was Mr. Benny Lucas of Washington, DC in April 2015. Then, Ms. Terri Thompson, also of DC, won in November 2016.
