Thomas Fondong of New Carrollton, Maryland is the second $50,000 winner with DC-5. When asked what drew him to D.C.’s newest numbers game, Mr. Fondong replied “It seemed like a new opportunity. If I came in new, chances are I might win big. I encourage people to play the D.C. Lottery. There will always be winners.”

Garland Vincent of Northeast, D.C. is DC-5’s latest $25,000 winner. A veteran D.C. Lottery player, Mr. Vincent says he plays a variety of D.C. Lottery games, but there was something about DC-5 that drew him to the new 5-digit numbers game, “I liked the song. The jingle got me playing.” Gimme that DC-5!

All in the Family
Another DC-5 Player Hits for $25,000 D.C.'s Darryl Williams is the latest $25,000 winner with DC-5. A regular player, Darryl says he gets some advice from his family members. "Our whole family plays (the D.C. Lottery). I have a 92-year old aunt that plays. 'Who hit the number' is a regular topic of conversation around the house."

Office pool wins $10,000 with POWERBALL®.
On their first try, the “Hilton Washington 27” office pool won $10,000 with POWERBALL®. Many of the winners have decided to donate their time and prize money to Tourism Cares, a non-profit organization dedicated to beautifying historical sites around the world. On September 11, they will be cleaning-up the FDR Memorial on the National Mall.

Southeast, D.C. resident LaVerne Johnson won $25,000 with the D.C. Lottery’s newest game – DC-5.
She is the third player to win the top prize with a .50 cent bet since the game started on July 19th. A regular numbers player, Johnson said she picked her own numbers. “A car made an illegal turn in front of me, and I looked at the plate.” She said those numbers were the same as the ones she had thought about playing. It turned out to be a winning combination for Johnson, who said she is going to pay off her bills, invest the remainder of her prize money, and “highly recommend this game to other people.”

$50K Mega Fortune Winner
“No big spending sprees,” said Sharon Johnson-Harrell about her $50,000 Mega Fortune win. Johnson-Harrell said she is going to use her prize money to pay off credit cards, then put the rest of the money in the bank.

50-cent Bet Nabs $25,000 for Second DC-5 Big Winner
Kendra Jones of northeast Washington, D.C. is DC-5’s the second big winner. The D.C. Lottery’s new 5-digit game launched July 19 and has already had two $25,000 winners. Kendra, a 34-year old mother of four says she’ll pay some bills and take a family vacation with her winnings. Using the D.C. Lottery’s “Stay Connected” features to stay on top of her winning numbers, Kendra says she called her mother immediately after seeing her numbers come up. “We were both surprised!” When asked if she had any advice for her fellow D.C. Lottery players, Kendra’s response, “Scared money don’t win!”

DC-5's first big winner
Just two days in stores and DC-5, the D.C. Lottery’s newest numbers game, has its first big winner. Matthew Porcher of northeast, D.C. won $25,000 with the mid-day drawing for Monday, July 20, 2009. The 65-year old retiree is a veteran D.C. Lottery player who says he got his first look at the new 5-digit game when he saw it on TV. “It’s a new game and I wanted to see what it was like.” Well, Porcher likes what he sees and says he’ll be playing more DC-5. The winning ticket was purchased at Columbia Wine & Liquor, 1151 Bladensburg Road, N.E.

No Vacation for this Princess
Markeza Mamo of Alexandria, VA just graduated medical school, turned 36, and with her $10,000 D.C. Lottery POWERBALL win, a trifecta of achievements was complete. The windfall will be a nice way to start her medical residency, "I’m definitely not going to Disney World."

"I’m a Big Hit"
Balwant Singh of Gaithersburg says winning the D.C. Lottery is "a piece of cake." The 35-year old independent business owner won $8,700 with a string of DC-4 tickets. "I win many times. I’m a big hit!"

Saleem Brown and Larry Owens of Maryland each won two tickets to the June 10 Washington Nationals home game against Cincinnati.

Navy Gets the Gold
Navy personnel Sabrina Golden of Middleburg, FL was “stunned” when she learned of her $10,000 POWERBALL win. Stationed at the Navy Annex in Washington, D.C., Goden says, “I’m a regular POWERBALL player since the stock market went in the crapper.”

"How’d They Know?"
"How’d they know what numbers, I picked?" was the question on Mark Levin’s mind when he saw his winning numbers posted on the Internet. The 44-year old Fairfax, VA resident says he has home repairs and a college fund in mind for his win, but adds "I’m sure the wife has it spent already."

Electrician ‘Shocked’ by $125,000 DC-4 Win
Quentin Peters won $125,000 with 25 DC-4 tickets. The electrician from LaPlata, MD says he was "shocked" when he learned of his win.

It took Manna Girma more than a week before claiming her $10,000 POWERBALL win. What took her so long? "I didn’t know I’d won until I went back to play more POWERBALL," says the teacher from Berwyn Heights, MD.

Crazy Eights!
Abel Gordillo of Manassas, VA won the remaining top prize of $88,888 with the Extreme 8’s instant scratcher ticket.

"My Bags Are Packed"
Ola M. Blalock of Washington, D.C. says she’s packed and ready for a cross-country vacation. The 75-year old retiree won $30,000 with the D.C. Lottery’s POWERBALL using the Power Play option and tripling her initial win of $10,000.

Ticket Said "See Agent!"
This was not John Waller’s first time winning the D.C. Lottery. The Mitchellville, MD resident has been playing for 10 years, but says his $10,000 POWERBALL win was the first time he ever checked a ticket that said "See Agent." "I knew it was something big," says the retired federal government worker. When asked how he plays to spend his newly acquired windfall, he proclaimed, "I don’t have any plans, but I’m sure my wife is thinking about it!"

Lightning Strikes Twice with $228,000 Rolling Cash 5 Hit
Betty Goodson is one lucky lady. In 2005 she was the first player to win the D.C. Daily 6 grand prize of $250,000. Four years later, she hits the D.C. Lottery’s Rolling Cash 5 jackpot for $228,000. "It’s like lightening striking twice," says the Wheaton, MD resident.
